First, let’s talk best practices
PixelFlash cards will work well right out of the box, and provide shot after shot of high speed data capture. However, a simple procedure upon receipt of your card will help you achieve maximum performance and zero failure rate. Treat your PixelFlash card right, and it will return the favor.
Give that card a fresh format
While many cameras share the same internal components, each one has its own unique fingerprint when it comes to file data protocols. Some cameras are more finicky than others. With this in mind, you will always want to format your memory card before first usage. Basically, you need to setup your new card and your camera on a formatting date. Then sit back and let the fireworks happen.
Don’t just pull it out
When you’re ready to remove your PixelFlash card from your devices, you’ll need to either power down (camera) or unmount (computer) before removing the card. This assures there is no data being written at the time of removal and prevents accidental corruption of your files.
When should I format my PixelFlash card?
You should format your PixelFlash card in the following situations: before your first use, after you have downloaded all of your images from the card, and any time you switch the card between cameras. This assures the file system is properly structured and ready to accept data from your current camera.
How do I properly format my PixelFlash card?
Reference your camera's owners manual for details on the "format" menu option. To format on a computer, check out these videos on how to format removable discs on both Mac and PC.
What is the speed formula (ie. 300x, 600x, etc) for each memory card?
(R = K * 150 kb/s) where R = transfer rate, K = speed rating. For example, 133x rating means transfer speed of: 133 * 150 kbyte/s = 19,950 kbyte/s ~ 20 Mbyte/s
Are PixelFlash USB-3 Card Readers, compatible with my USB-2 ports?

How do I get the most speed from my PixelFlash USB-3 CF Card Reader?
For Windows 7 and older Operating Systems, make sure you've installed the USB-3 drivers from your computer manufacturer, then install our driver package here, for the PixelFlash USB-3 CF Card Card Reader.
Why are some of my images not transferring as expected through the CF Reader?
Depending on when you purchased your PixelFlash USB-3 CF Card Reader, you may need to update it's firmware. Download the firmware update here for improved compatibility with newer UDMA 7 CF Cards. It's important to note that if images are not transferring as expected, this does not affect the original files on your CF Card. Don't delete your images until you've updated your firmware and completed a successful download of your files first.
